I was watching Fox News when reporter Molly Henneberg was interviewing the Mayor of Baton Rouge in one of the shelters. She first asked about conditions in the shelter and what was being done for the people there. Then she asked the mayor about a special guest that was coming tomorrow. The rest went something like this.

"Well, we have John Travlota coming. He'll be going to Baton Rouge and..." said the Mayor.

"No, the big guest" Molly said.

"Oh Yes," he replied. "Oprah is coming..."

"No, no. The really big guest."

"Oh, The President. Yes.."

Hurricane Relief

I don't have to tell you about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. We all know how bad it is. What we can do is give some money to those who can do something to help. I don't have much money to give but I'll be giving what I can. If we all do that, we'll raise an incredible amount of money.

I'd suggest giving to Catholic Charities. They provide long-term recovery work which includes "temporary and permanent housing, direct assistance beyond food and water to get people back into their homes, job placement counseling, and medical and prescription drug assistance."
